Giving an answer to Slavenka Drakulic’s present Eurozine article regarding the situation of females trapped into the post-’89 change, Kristen Ghodsee and Adriana Zaharijevic reconsider notions of “emancipation from above” and also the grassroots involvement of ordinary ladies in both the East therefore the western.

Not so long ago in western democracies, females banded together and rose up to beat their oppressors that are patriarchal. They connected hands and pumped fists, putting aside their variations in battle, course, ethnicity and religion.
